In our efforts to support The Andrew McDonough B+ (Be Positive) Foundation, UDance Dance Marathon at the University of Delaware strives to instill hope in the lives of those affected by childhood cancer. We encourage unity, raise funds, and spread awareness while inspiring all to Live Like Andrew!Childhood cancer is the #1 disease killer of children and teenagers. There are 16 major types of pediatric cancers and over 100 subtypes. Our organization strives to change those statistics and ensure that children live the long, joyful lives they deserve.

UDance was founded in 2007 by Jessica Forman and has grown substantially over the past thirteen years. The first UDance, held in the Trabant Multipurpose Rooms, was sponsored by two Greek Organizations:  Alpha Epsilon Phi and Sigma Phi Epsilon. In 2009, UDance partnered with The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation.

We encourage students across campus to get involved. In 2019 alone, over 100 student organizations were involved in UDance throughout the year and students participated as Volunteers, Comma Clubbers, Dancers, or Moralers in the annual dance marathon on March 24th. In total, over 4,000 individuals attended UDance 2019 throughout the day!

This past year, the UDance Community raised $2,252,081.70 For Our Heroes. All funds benefit The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation, which provides critical, cutting-edge medical research and direct financial assistance to families across the country.

The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation honors the life and legacy of Andrew McDonough. The Foundation was born after athlete and ‘A’ student Andrew McDonough battled leukemia, septic shock and complications of childhood cancer for 167 days before passing away on July 14, 2007, at the age of 14. Andrew’s B+ blood type became his family’s and friends’ motto throughout his fight against childhood cancer — to “Be Positive”.

The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation is all about Kids Helping Kids Fight Cancer. The B+ Foundation provides financial and emotional support to families of kids affected by cancer nationwide, and funds critical, cutting-edge childhood cancer research. Learn more about B+ Heroes.
